Welcome to Nordens Ark!

At Nordens Ark you’ll meet endangered animals in a magnificent setting alongside Åby fiord in Bohuslän.

We have some 80 species that thrive in our climate, for example snow leopards, Amur tigers, Amur leopards, wolves, lynxes and old native breeds. You’ll also see endangered birds and amphibians.

Nordens Ark is a non-profit foundation set up to give endangered animals a future. We also conduct breeding, research and education. Some animals are released into their natural habitats. We also participate in international conservation projects.

Exciting activities

Things are going on at the zoo all year. You can meet our keepers and help feed the animals or peek into the kitchen and learn more about what the animals eat and how we activate them. There are also things for kids to do. The programme varies with the time of year.

Nordens Ark is at Åby Manor that dates back to the 1300s. On the 383-hectare estate there are also hiking trails and one of Bohuslän’s largest rock carvings.

Eat & stay with us

We have restaurants and cafés. Or you can picnic on the grass. Nordens Ark Hotel also has packages with accommodation and activities.

Unique experiences

If you book in advance we can arrange anything from kids’ camps to conferences and activities for large groups. You might like to eat dinner with the wolves or join the keepers behind the scenes with the big cats.

Opening hours

Nordens Ark is open every day year round from 10 a.m. We close at different times according to season.
